On 7 December INZ application fees will rise by 8.3 % overall. The last fee increase was in 2012 when they jumped by 16.5%.
In addition, INZ is introducing an “immigration levy” which will apply to all temporary visas (work, student and visitor), limited visas and some residence visas. This will be paid when the application is lodged.
At present, the only immigration levy is the $310 paid once a residence application is approved in principle.
In the future, INZ will charge lower fees for online applications than paper-based ones. However, the online application system is still relatively new and at present, not all applications can be lodged online – in particular partnership and residence applications are still paper-based.
Fees and immigration levies are yet to be confirmed by INZ.
